Ned Depew

Acorn is Ned Depew, a fifty year old writer, divorced father of two teenage children, I am a several times college drop-out, whose extensive education has been fueled by passion rather than course requirements. My studies have included the complete works of Honore de Balzac, HH Munro, Joseph Conrad, O Henry, Rex Stout and Rudyard Kipling, among others and protracted and extensive studies of Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, and Wilhelm Reich, the three founders of modern psychological theory.

An active dreamer as a child whose dream recall was discounted and suppressed for many years, I reactivated my conscious interest in dreams in a workshop on writing and dreams in the mid 1980's. Since then I have read extensively about sleep and dreams, both popular and scholarly research books. Authors studied have included LaBerge, Garfield, Krippner, Ullman, Mindell, Grof, Hillman, and many others. I have studied in workshop with Strephon Kaplan-Williams, author of the book originally titled "The Jungian-Senoi Dreamwork Manual" which I consider to be the most comprehensive and helpful guide to experiential interaction with dream material. I have led dream groups, and practice dreamwork and dream sharing with friends and family.

I have worked as an alternative high-school teacher, a cabinet maker, a contractor and designer of houses, an actor, a manager of a residence for developmentally disabled adults, and a freelance writer and advertising/marketing consultant. Currently, I freelance and work in advertising and market development for a non-profit arts and literary magazine.
